Getting Started
What is mobile storage and how is it different from traditional self-storage? ▼
Mobile storage means we bring the container to you. Instead of driving back and forth to a storage unit, we drop a steel container at your address. You load it on your own schedule. Then we either leave it on your property, or tow it to our secure facility in Mound House. When you're ready, we deliver it wherever you need it next.
How is A to B Mobile Storage different from PODS or U-Haul? ▼
We're a locally owned Northern Nevada business serving all of greater Reno — not a national chain. That means lower prices, faster scheduling, and a real person on the phone when you call. We know the terrain, the weather, and the access constraints local properties have.
How does the rental process work? ▼
Call or fill out our quote form. We confirm a delivery date and arrive with your 20 ft container. You load at your own pace — minutes, days, or weeks. You either keep it on your property or we tow it to our secure facility. When you're done, we pick it up or move it to a new address.
Do you serve my area? ▼
We serve Carson City, Reno, Sparks, Sun Valley, Spanish Springs, Mound House, and surrounding Northern Nevada communities. Our base rate covers a 20-mile radius from 31 Brown Drive in Mound House. Extra mileage applies beyond a 15-mile radius from the I-580 / Neil Road intersection. Not sure if you're covered? Call us.
Can I see a container before I rent? ▼
Yes. Visit our facility at 31 Brown Drive, Mound House, NV during business hours and we'll walk you through one. Call ahead so we can have a container ready and accessible.
02
Pricing & Payment
How much does a container cost per month? ▼
$250 per month for a 20 ft container, plus a required $15/month damage waiver — so your monthly total is $265. Additional fees apply for delivery, pickup, and optional facility storage. See our pricing page for the full schedule.
What's included in the $250 monthly rate? ▼
The $250 covers the container itself for one 28-day rental period, and the required $15 damage waiver is added to that monthly fee. Delivery, pickup, and facility storage are billed separately so you only pay for what you use.
What additional fees should I expect? ▼
Delivery starts at $80, pickup starts at $80, facility storage is $35 per 28 days, the required damage waiver is $15 per month (added to the container fee), and respots (moving a full container to a new location) start at $110.
Is there a deposit? ▼
A refundable deposit may apply depending on your rental terms. We confirm the exact amount during quoting so there are no surprises at delivery.
Do you offer discounts for long-term rentals? ▼
Yes. Annual rentals save up to 15% versus monthly billing. If you know you'll need storage for six months or more, ask about long-term pricing when you call.
What payment methods do you accept? ▼
Major credit cards, debit cards, and ACH bank transfer. We can also set up automatic recurring billing so you don't have to think about it month to month.
Is there a minimum rental period? ▼
One month minimum. After that, your rental continues month to month until you tell us you're done.
Can I cancel early? ▼
Yes. Just give us a heads-up and we'll schedule a pickup. We don't charge cancellation penalties.
03
Containers & Specs
What size containers do you offer? ▼
We rent 20-foot containers (roughly 1,360 cubic feet) and compact 8-foot containers. The 8 ft units are currently sold out — more arrive in August 2026. Leave your contact info on our sizes page and we'll reach out when they're available.
What are the exact dimensions of a 20 ft container? ▼
Exterior dimensions are 20 feet long × 8 feet wide × 8.5 feet tall. Interior usable space is approximately 19'4" long × 7'8" wide × 7'10" tall.
How much can I fit in a 20 ft container? ▼
Roughly the contents of a 3 to 4 bedroom home, or a full-size garage worth of equipment, tools, and seasonal items. Two to three pieces of large furniture line each wall comfortably, with floor space in the middle for boxes.
What condition are the containers in? ▼
Our fleet is inspected before every rental. Containers are clean, dry, structurally sound, and have working door hardware. We pull any unit that doesn't pass inspection.
Are the containers weatherproof? ▼
Yes. Heavy-gauge steel construction with sealed doors keeps out rain, snow, wind, and pests. We still recommend boxing fragile items as a precaution and not storing anything moisture-sensitive without additional protection.
Do containers come with shelving or interior lighting? ▼
Our standard containers are empty, open interiors with no built-in shelving or lighting. This keeps the rental affordable and gives you maximum flexibility. Bring a battery lantern or headlamp if you'll be loading at dusk.
Is there electricity inside the container? ▼
No. Containers are unpowered. If you need power for tools or lighting at a job site, you'll need to provide your own generator or extension setup.
04
Delivery & Placement
Where can the container be placed? ▼
Driveways, side yards, parking lots, job sites, and most flat ground will work. We position the container exactly where you want it as long as our truck can reach the spot.
What kind of surface does the container need? ▼
Flat, level, and firm. Asphalt, concrete, compacted gravel, and packed dirt all work. Soft lawn, mud, or sand isn't recommended because the container can shift or sink.
How much space do I need for delivery? ▼
For a 20 ft container, plan on roughly 60 feet of straight clearance for the truck to maneuver, and at least 12 feet of overhead clearance (watch for trees and power lines). A standard residential driveway usually works fine.
How is the container delivered? ▼
We use a tilt-bed truck that lowers the container directly to the ground. No crane, no forklift, no heavy equipment needed on your end.
Can you place the container on a slope? ▼
A slight slope is fine. Anything steeper than a gentle grade can make the doors hard to open and the container awkward to load. We'll evaluate the site at delivery and reposition if needed.
How long does delivery take? ▼
The actual drop is usually 15 to 30 minutes once we're on site. Total appointment window is typically about one hour to allow for site review and positioning.
Do I need to be home for delivery? ▼
Not strictly, as long as we have clear instructions on where to place the container and the spot is accessible. We'll text or call when we arrive.
Can the container be moved once it's delivered? ▼
Yes — that's called a respot. We charge a respot fee starting at $110 to move a full or empty container to a new location. Within 30 miles of the original drop is included in the base fee; over 30 miles is $3 per additional mile.
05
Storage Options
Can I keep the container at my own property? ▼
Yes — that's the most popular option. Keep it on your driveway, in your yard, or at your job site for the duration of your rental at no additional storage fee.
Do you offer storage at your facility? ▼
Yes. Our facility in Mound House is fenced, monitored, and secured. Facility storage is $35 per 28 days. Useful if you don't have room for the container at home.
How do I get to my belongings if the container is at your facility? ▼
Call or text to schedule an access visit. We'll have your container ready when you arrive. Access is available during regular business hours and Sundays by appointment.
Where exactly is your facility? ▼
31 Brown Drive, Mound House, NV 89706 — just east of Carson City off Highway 50.
06
Access & Loading
Do you provide loading help? ▼
We deliver the container — loading is on you. We can recommend local movers if you'd like a referral.
Is there a ramp? ▼
The container sits at ground level, so for boxes and most household items you can walk directly in. For heavy wheeled items, a portable ramp helps. We can suggest options when you book.
Do I need to provide my own lock? ▼
We strongly recommend bringing your own padlock so you're the only one with the key. A standard heavy-duty padlock fits our door hardware. We also have locks available for purchase.
How do I keep track of what I've stored? ▼
Label boxes clearly and keep an inventory list. If you're storing at our facility long-term, snap a photo of the inside of the container before we tow it away.
07
Insurance & Security
Is my stuff insured while it's in the container? ▼
Your homeowner's or renter's insurance may cover items in temporary storage — check your policy. We don't provide insurance on your contents, but every rental includes our Damage Waiver, which protects the container itself.
What is the Damage Waiver? ▼
$15 per month, added to your monthly container fee on every rental. Covers the container against accidental damage while in your possession.
Is your facility secure? ▼
Yes. Perimeter fencing, monitoring, and locked access. Containers stay padlocked while in our care.
What if the container is damaged or broken into? ▼
Contact us immediately. We'll document the incident and work with you on next steps. The Damage Waiver covers most accidental damage. For theft, you'll want to file a report and work with your insurance on contents.
08
Restrictions & Limits
What can't I store in the container? ▼
No hazardous materials (gasoline, propane, paint thinners, chemicals), no perishable food, no live animals, no plants, and no illegal items. When in doubt, ask us.
Is there a weight limit? ▼
7,000 lbs is our recommended limit. Staying within that range ensures safe transport and avoids overweight handling fees. We weigh the container before every move to comply with Nevada DOT regulations.
Can I store firearms or ammunition? ▼
We strongly discourage storing firearms in mobile storage containers for security and legal reasons. Contact us to discuss your specific situation.
Can I run a business out of the container? ▼
Containers are for storage, not occupation. You can store inventory, tools, and supplies, but the container isn't permitted as a workspace or office.
09
Business & Commercial Use
Do you work with businesses? ▼
Yes. Retailers handle seasonal overflow, restaurants store equipment, contractors keep tools on job sites, and offices store records and furniture. Business rentals often qualify for multi-container or long-term discounts.
Can I put a container on a construction site? ▼
Yes — construction and job site rentals are one of our most common uses. We deliver directly to your site and pick up when the project ends.
Do you offer fleet pricing for multiple containers? ▼
Yes. Ask about multi-container pricing when you call. We have flexible terms for ongoing commercial accounts.
10
Booking & Cancellation
How far in advance should I book? ▼
For weekday delivery, 2 to 5 business days is typical. Same-week and even same-day delivery is sometimes possible depending on fleet availability — call us if you need it fast.
What if I need to extend my rental? ▼
Just call before your rental period ends. We extend at your current rate with no penalty fees.
What happens at pickup time? ▼
Call or text us when you're ready. We schedule a pickup window, arrive with the truck, secure the doors, and tow the container away. If the container is at your property, make sure the pickup path is clear.
