How to Prepare Your Property for Container Delivery
Your container is scheduled — here's how to make delivery day completely uneventful (the good kind). Five minutes of prep saves a reschedule fee's worth of hassle.
1. Measure Your Clearance
Our delivery truck needs roughly 60 feet of straight clearance to place the container, and about 12 feet of overhead clearance the whole way in — watch for tree limbs, eaves, and utility lines. Not sure your spot works? Text a photo of the space to (775) 443-9966 and we'll tell you before delivery day.
2. Pick the Right Surface
Flat, level, and firm: asphalt, concrete, compacted gravel, or packed dirt all work. Avoid soft lawn, mud, and sand — a loaded container can settle unevenly, which makes doors stick and pickup harder. In winter, have the pad plowed before we arrive.
3. Think About Door Direction
Decide which way the doors should face before the truck arrives — toward the garage for easy loading, or away from the street for security. Add it to the placement notes when you reserve online, along with any gate codes.
4. Check the Rules
Most residential deliveries in our area need no permit for a container on your own driveway, but HOAs sometimes limit how long one can sit street-visible, and containers placed on a public street may need city approval. A quick call to your HOA or city clerk beats a violation letter. We know the quirks of most local neighborhoods — ask us.
5. Clear the Landing Zone
Move cars, trailers, and basketball hoops out of the approach path, and unlock any gates. If you share a driveway, give the neighbor a heads-up — the truck needs the full approach for a few minutes.
Delivery Day
You don't need to be home as long as the spot is ready and accessible — we'll place the container exactly where your notes say, level and square. Delivery starts at $80 within 20 miles of our Mound House facility, confirmed up front with any mileage beyond that quoted before your container ships. Then the space is yours: load at your pace, keep it as long as you need, and call us when you're ready for pickup.
